Some interesting facts

about the Matterhorn:

– Altitude: 4478m above sea level

– First ascent: 14th July 1865 by Edward Whymper, Charles Hudson, Lord Francis Douglas, Douglas Robert Hadow, guide Michel Croz, and the father and son guides Peter and Peter Taugwalder.

– Time needed to climb the Matterhorn using the Hörnli route (on the Swiss side of the mountain): 4 – 5 hours

– Cost to climb the Matterhorn on the Hörnli route (2014) with a private mountain guide: CHF 1445.-
